The competition was organised by the Institute of Chemical Engineers to celebrate Science Week.
Irini impressed the judges with her poem, The Woosh Bottle, about a school chemistry experiment.
Open to 11 - 13 year-olds nationwide, the competition asked students to write poems based on their feelings and observations while watching science teachers perform the 'whynotchemeng Top 10 Flash Bang Demos.'
Irini received a certificate and a £25 book voucher.
