Following Putney’s Prizegiving Day we feature the 2011 Man Booker prizewinner, The Sense of an Ending, by Julian Barnes. The story, about the fortunes of a group of school friends, is brief but masterful. The central character  is a seemingly ordinary man who, when revisiting his past in later life, discovers that the memories he holds are less than perfect.
