The school has been a flurry of Christmas cheer this week, with pupils and staff contributing by the sleigh load.
This week 80 local senior citizens from the local day centres were invited for an afternoon of Christmas festivities hosted by the Year 9 girls. Presents were carefully chosen and wrapped by pupils throughout the school, and Christmas cards written for all senior citizens attending.
For the first time this year local community officers attended the event, building the feel of community spirit further.
Following a Christmas tea, guests were entertained by the school’s musicians, ever popular bingo and even Santa made a surprise appearance (bearing a striking resemblance to our Mr Murray?). These events are a calendar highlight for the senior citizens and girls alike, with the next community event eagerly anticipated in the summer term.
Adding to the entertainment, the term came to a close in crescendos of laughter at the Putney High School pantomime. With many staff starring in this hilarious event, the show followed the classic Wizard of Oz story, with a Big Brother twist and a helping hand from the Catherine Tate show. With laughs all the way, choice cameos and the occasional prompt by Dr Moore, Ms Carlin led the cast to a fantastic term finale.
