GCSE Results Day!

ImagePutney High School is celebrating today as almost two thirds (62%) of girls achieved ten A or A* GCSE grades - with the highest ever points per pupil the school has witnessed.

Furthermore, 20% of girls at the school have taken eleven subjects and scored an A or A* in each of these. Putney girls are challenging recent press reports which have revealed that many schools are shifting away from 'tough' subjects such as the three separate sciences, languages and the classics towards 'softer' options in order to boost their position in the league tables.

ImageAll girls at Putney take all three separate sciences with 90% reaching A or A* this year, one third of girls have chosen to study classics with 79% reaching A or A* and languages remain popular subject choices with very strong results.

Margery Infield has special cause for celebrations as Edexcel revealed that she has ranked top ten in the country for Statistics - out of 44566 candidates! Well done Margery!

Headmistress, Dr Denise Lodge, said today:

“I'm delighted with these results which have proved to be a fantastic reward for the efforts of the girls over the past two years and I'm sure they will act as a springboard for future success. They are a great reflection of the support our students receive from teachers, parents and governors here and of the dedication of all our girls - well done!"
