Life Skills is an important part of the curriculum. The school draws on additional expertise, including professionals working in health and careers guidance.
A nurse from the Wandsworth Family Planning Service talks to each year group, holding drop-in sessions where girls can raise any concerns.
In Years 7 to 11, part of the Life Skills programme is delivered during a weekly lesson with tutors. Main themes are:
- Health education including diet, exercise, drugs, smoking and alcohol misuse.
- Sex and relationships' education including assertiveness and anti-bullying strategies.
- Citizenship
- Introduction to financial management
- Careers education
- Study skills
- Personal safety – including sessions with the local police and a self defence course in Year 10.
In addition, Year 10 follow a programme covering current affairs, economic management, careers, an introduction to Philosophy and contemporary social and health issues.
Assemblies
Personal development is enhanced through assemblies where topics of a spiritual, moral, social or cultural theme are explored. Every form prepares and presents an assembly each year.
