Year 8 enter the world of spies and cracking codes

Enigma projectJames Grime from the Millennium Mathematics Project at the University of Cambridge visited the Senior Department to give a presentation to all Year 8 girls about the history and mathematics of codes and code breaking, from ancient Greece to the present, including a demonstration of a genuine WWII enigma machine. The girls then attended workshops, entering the world of spies, cracking codes! Cryptography is one of the most interesting, inspiring and exotic applications of mathematics.
