Introduction to Pastoral Care

Girls studying in the gardenPastoral care is of great importance to all the staff at Putney High School.  We regard ourselves as being in a three-way partnership with parents and girls to provide guidance and care on a daily basis.  Channels of communication are always open for parents and girls to raise questions, queries and problems.  We aim to deal quickly and respond sensitively to the girls’ needs.

Each girl has a Form Tutor - an academic member of staff who is responsible for her care and welfare.  Tutors will listen to each girl and try to resolve any issues that arise.  Girls in Years 7 to 9 will have a different tutor each year but girls in Years 10 and 11 (the GCSE years) keep the same tutor for two years, as do girls in Years 12 and 13 (the A level years).

Form Tutors get to know the girls very well. They see them every morning for registration and form time/assembly and every afternoon, so they are always alert to their different needs and personalities.
