Junior Department Curriculum

Junior Department girlsFoundation Stage:

Girls in the Reception class are introduced gradually to a full and varied curriculum which focuses predominantly on the acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills. The girls are encouraged to take control of their own learning at the earliest opportunity and are well supported as they begin to understand and make sense of their world.

Key Stage 1 (Garden House):

Most lessons are delivered by the class teacher who develops a strong and nurturing relationship with the girls. The curriculum consists of:

Mathematics, English, Science, History, Geography, Music, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Design Technology, Art, PHSE, Religious Studies, PE, gymnastics, dance and games.

Junior Department girlsKey Stage 2 (Lytton House)

Girls are taught by an increasing number of specialist teachers which allows them to take advantage of a wealth of expertise available. French is studied from Year 4 and swimming is introduced in Year 3.

Extension Activities include:

Chess, Music, Choir, Orchestra, French, Art Club, Gymnastics, Netball, Gardening and ICT and more.
