In the Trenches at Ypres Year 9 girls studying the Great War in history visited cemeteries and other sites of interest in and around Ypres. The day is long and thought-provoking, and although we visit many of the same sites each year, each group brings its own ideas and thoughts to the scenes. This year saw some slightly lighter moments when girls acted out combat scenes from the trenches, but, as ever, the mood was, generally, one of remembrance and respect. The day ended in Tyne Cot cemetery with a moving reading of Sassoon's poem, "Aftermath" by three girls and the laying of a wreath of poppies in remembrance.
